New Measuring Method of Angular Position Error of Cylindrical Gear

The angular position error of mating gear is tested by means of the single flank gear meshing tester.However, it is passably difficult to apply this tester to a fine pitch gear and a worm gear.Therefore, new measuring method of angular position error of these gears using Gear type condenser, Involute helicoid master worm and two change gears is developed and the measuring apparatus based, on this method is assembled. In this apparatus, the work gear and the gear type condenser are attach-ed on the same mandrel, the master worm mating the work gear is rotated by the handle through the change gears. One of the change gears has the same number of teeth as the gear type condenser and the other has the same number of teeth as the work gear. The number of measuring point is equal to the number of teeth of t he gear type condenser.If necessary, the measuring points are increased in number by the regular displacement of the position of gear type condenser.Furthermore, if the work worm is attached instead of the master worm, the angular posit ion error of worm gears is also tested.Several of hobbed gears and worm gears are tested by this measuring apparatus and the angular position error of these gears are obtained in detail from the results.
