This study was motivated by the challenges confronting the developing Southeast Asian nation of Thailand in realizing national policy objectives aimed at creating a knowledge‐based society. The study determines and compares the development plans of 72 medium to large sized organizations representing 7 organizational sectors in terms of the relative and changing importance assigned to a range of technologies, professional activities, and IT knowledge/skills and assesses the alignment of these development plans with national policy objectives.

The study tests predictions made in the literature about the nature and structure of the IS profession over the next 5 years against the expectations of organizations operating in Thailand. Predictions refer to similarities and differences between Provider organizations where the core activity is the provision of ICT products and services and User organizations which are engaged in different core activities but require ICT products and services. The expectations in both types of organizations are analyzed and compared using data collected by questionnaire. The results are interpreted and theoretical and practical implications are presented.

This exploratory study aims to determine the technologies, IT professional activities, areas of IT knowledge/skills and related concerns, at present and within the next five years, which are important to private and public organisations operating in the Southeast Asian nation of Thailand. The study was motivated by the challenges confronting a developing nation in realising national IT policy objectives aimed at creating a knowledge-based society in the wake of a serious economic downturn in the late 1990s. Conclusions drawn from the analysis of responses to a questionnaire highlight the problems and future intentions for the use of information and communication technologies from the perspective of international and local, medium-and large-sized, organisations operating in Thailand.

Predictions about changes over the period 2005 to 2010 in the nature and structure of the IT profession in organizations operating in developed nations were tested for organizations operating in eight different organizational sectors in Thailand. Data collected in 2006 and 2011 from organizations in Thailand was used to test the predictions and to identify similarities and differences among the sectors with respect to the importance of specific knowledge and skills associated with each part of the predicted structure. The findings provide theoretical and practical insights into the development of the nature and structure of the IT profession in Thailand over the past five years and the relative importance of IT professional skills in each organizational sector.

The study compared ICT professional requirements in organizations in Thailand with ICT bachelor degree curricular offered in universities in Thailand using a theoretical framework with three related components: domains of expertise; the scope of the professionals knowledge, skills, and experience; and specific skills associated with the domains of expertise. Data was collected by questionnaire from 166 medium to large sized organizations and 42 universities which offered in total 78 ICT related bachelor degree programs. The findings showed that, although there was a reasonable degree of alignment between the importance of skills in the organizations and the ICT curricular, the ICT programs were not addressing adequately the needs of organizations for a range of skills related to understanding organizations and their functions, ICT management activities, and especially the management of ICT physical and financial resources. On the other hand, ICT programs placed more emphasis than the organizations on skills concerned with systems development methodologies for the complete development of applications/systems, CASE tools, programming and coding, database design, technical expertise with object relational and object oriented databases, and multimedia applications. Previous studies of this kind conducted in Thailand were not found and the findings are expected to be of value and interest to those responsible for national ICT policy and especially ICT education and training.

The progress of Thailands development needs to be monitored especially in the environment of the ASEAN Economic Community which started formally at the end of the year 2015. Furthermore, Thailand has also established the Thailand 4.0 strategy in alignment with the Thailand 12th Social and Economic Development Plan (2017–2021) and the ASEAN ICT Master Plan in order to drive the Thailand economy into a high‐income country and to be an ASEAN regional center. Because of the efficiency and effectiveness of ICT that can stimulate and support in most work areas, ICT aims to be the foundation of the countrys development in other aspects. Thus, Thailands Ministry of ICT has launched various ICT policies and programs for ICT administrators of different economic sectors because ICT has been considered as an engine of country development, and this causes Thailand to rely more on the adoption of ICT in various sectors. This study focuses on the progression of ICT development and investments, country infrastructures, the quality of the higher education system, business sophistication, and innovation, which are considered as the principal components of Thailand 4.0 strategy. The findings may assist the responsible authorities in both public and private organizations in monitoring, understanding, and expediting strategies and operations in order to achieve the objectives of Thailand 4.0 and to obtain competitive advantages across the ASEAN Economic Community. Furthermore, the findings also help to detect improvement of the Thailands performance with respect to the 5 components development relative to the other ASEAN economies.

IT professionals in these days need to obtain multidisciplinary skill sets in order to succeed in their career. Design skill is considered as one of important characteristic for IT professionals. Many researches addressed design skill sets differently. This results in an increasing numbers of design skill items, in which some of those items have their meaning slightly different from each other. These long lists of design skill items can cause to long range of questionnaire. This study evaluates three techniques used for items selection which help reducing the number of skill items but with expect to remain their value within the selected items. The comparative studies used in this work are random selection, statistics selection, and effective coverage-based selection. The study found that the proposed technique provides the most satisfy result comparing to the other two techniques. According to this, the reduction rate by using this model is better than random and statistics algorithms about 47.83% and 34.78% respectively. Moreover, the percent coverage by using the proposed model is higher than the traditional methods approximately 13-26 %.

Skills and experiences of choosing the appropriate test cases to represent a test suite for the program modifications deal with steps of preparation, testing bugs and selection methods, while the smallest size is realized. There are selection methods present to solve these problems but the results can be improved to get the satisfied solution. Therefore, this paper prepares the algorithms for handling this situation by proposing the process of testing, demonstrating, removing and selecting the test cases with high efficiency. When compared with the traditional techniques, the proposed model gives better results of size reduction and percent efficiency approximately 44.28%, and 46.27% which are higher than random and regression test selection respectively. While the percentage of finding bugs is smaller than the comparative studies about an average 2.36 times.

ICT development in Thailand and the other ASEAN members must be prepared for the environment of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) which will start formally at the end of the year 2015. The Ministry of ICT in Thailand has established several ICT policies and programs for ICT administrative management in both public and private enterprises in order to create a strong network of relationships to deal with competitors in ASEAN. This study compares Thailand with the other ASEAN Plus 3 member nations based on their stage of economic development and three important indicators of competitiveness (the higher education system, technology readiness, and business innovation). The findings identify Thailands position with respect to ICT development relative to the other ASEAN Plus 3 nations and point to strategies and partnerships that need to be developed in Thailand in order to maintain a competitive position within the AEC.
