Promotion and operations conducted alongside it, aiming at giving a business or product class and prestige, have accompanied economy for ages. After transition from statist economic policy to free market policy, its influence has also become visible in Poland. It has given a whole new dimension to promoted products. On the other hand, proper functioning of tourism aided by various economic instruments is possible only when the essence of the issue of tourism as a social and economic phenomenon is correctly understood. If by this term we mean management of tourist traffic, benefits and sales of tourism goods aided by, i.e. promotion (the most important marketing tool), we will understand the economic benefits. This paper is an attempt to analyze the process of management of tourist product promotion. There have been presented tools used in promotion which includes brand and advertisement, among others. There has also been analyzed the essence of promotion in tourism.

SMALL BUSINESS MANAGEMENT IN RELATIONSHIPS OF MICRO AND MACRO ENVIRONMENT

Building the economy of a country and its competitive strength on international markets constitutes the determinant of the economic power of globalization. Countries, wishing to take an active part in creating this power must exert impact on their economy in terms of innovation, entrepreneurship and flexibility of management of their business. However, building the economy of the country begins from the bottom, therefore, from the local ? regional industry. In Poland, this industry consists in the enterprises of the SME sector, where there predominate small companies that do not have the financial potential e.g. for the development being the result of using modern technologies. The State (the policy run by the authorities) and aid programs of the European Union have a significant share in the development of such companies. However, the progress in business greatly depends on the enterprise itself and, particularly, the strategy selected as the leading one. The paper is an attempt to select factors both from the micro and macro environment. Degree of dependence and impact of these factors on each other/ the company represents valuable information for those managing small businesses. It may constitute the first step towards the decision in what direction the enterprise will develop or if it will be able to satisfy the requirements set e.g. by the external environment.

Performance Evaluation of the Production Control Systems of Push and Pull Type

Robert Ulewicz; Joanna Nowakowska-Grunt; Dorota Jelonek

In the article there was undertaken an attempt to assess the functioning of the production control systems based on the analysis of selected companies of widely understood metal industry. Based on the literature as well as own research there was carried out comparative analysis of selected pull and push systems. There were described conditions, which must be met by production system, that a given method bring expected results and guarantee the achievement of measurable benefits resulting from improving the organization of the flow of materials and information. Carried out analysis indicates differences in key areas and draws attention to the conditions, which should be met by production environment that a given system can function properly.

Logistics' clusters as a part of regional policy in Poland

Joanna Nowakowska-Grunt; Dorota Jelonek; Helena Koscielniak

Cluster development may be one of the best tools to promote regional economic development and stimulating competitiveness and innovation. However, to make this possible, it is necessary to integrate and organize activities related to cluster development policy in Poland. This would allow for more efficient use of public funds.

Mathematical Methods in Planning Production Capacity as Exemplified by Enterprises of the Footwear Sector

Joanna Nowakowska-Grunt; Robert Sałek

Planning the production capacity is an intricate and multi-phase undertaking, which consequently leads to the optimal selection of the means and resources that are appropriate for a given enterprise. In this paper, the application of mathematical methods in the planning of production for an enterprise in the sector of SMEs has been presented, which implemented innovative technological solutions in the manufacturing process. Finally, comparative analysis was carried out on the basis of the mathematical models created, which facilitated the definition of the changes in the production possibilities both prior to and following the implementation of innovation.
