Due to continuous development and increased introduction of Common Rail Systems in truck and car applications, the effective protection of the injection system and associated components against various kinds of wear has become more and more important [1]. As well as providing more effective protection against wear, the supply of water-free fuel to the injection system and automatic water management inside the fuel filter are required. Mann+Hummel is in a position to offer an “Enabling Technology” for modern diesel injection systems by diesel fuel filters with integrated diesel water separation anddischarge.

In order that the systems which in future will be necessary for selective catalytic reduction (SCR) in diesel-engined vehicles are protected against wear and failure, the use of filters to clean the urea-water solution is necessary for all the known SCR systems on the market. Mann+Hummel has developed and patented various SCR/urea filters, with efficient filters, compact dimensions and long service life. The spectrum ranges from different metal-free filter elements to complex urea filter elements with integrated heating and sensors.

The significant advances in modern diesel and petrol direct injection systems have radically changed the requirements of fuel filtration. As well as ensuring extremely fine particle filtration, water-free fuels and, in some cases, filters with vehicle lifetime must now be supplied. In order to meet these challenges, Mann+Hummel has developed a completely new generation of filter media as well as filter systems that are equipped with additional features such as heating or cooling, as well as sensors for pressure and water and fluid control unit.
