On the typification, identity, and synonomy of Aristolochia disticha Mast. (Aristolochiaceae)

Favio González; Joelcio Freitas; Elton John de Lírio

Aristolochia disticha was originally described based on a specimen collected by R. Spruce in Santarem (Pará, Brazil). Unfortunately, the specimen lacks flowers and fruits, although it has four slender, ramiflorous inflorescences that distinguish the species. Here we fully describe the species, based on the holotype and additional flowering and fruiting specimens that allow us to report a range expansion to the states of Acre, Amazonas, Bahia, Paraíba, and Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, and also to Venezuela, French Guiana, Surinam, Peru, and Bolivia. Finally, we reduce the recently described A. setulosa to the synonymy of A. disticha.

Abstract We present the first voucher-based record of Pouteria macrocarpa for Brazilian Atlantic forest and extend the occurrence area of it. Besides, a brief taxonomic description, an identification key for lignified-fruits Pouteria species, and information about phenology and herbarium records are provided. According to the IUCN Red List and the Red Book of the Brazilian Flora, the species is considered Vulnerable (VU). However, facing the new available data, we believe it should be reassessed as Endangered (EN). Key words : Brazil, Chrysophylloideae, Ericales, Espirito Santo, Neotropics.

Replacement names for two preoccupied generic names in Arthropoda

Lorena Tonini; Juliana Paulo da Silva Paulo Silva; Arlindo Serpa Filho; Joelcio Freitas

The genus Ransonia Blandin, 1979 (Arachnida: Araneae) was established with description of a new species, Ransonia mahasoana of the family Pisauridae (Arachnida: Araneae) endemic from Mahasoa, Madagascar. Unfortunately, this name is preoccupied by Ransonia Kramp, 1947, a genus of the family Rhopalonematidae (Hydrozoa: Trachymedusae) with only one species, Ransonia (Aglantha) krampi Ranson (1932), from Gibraltar, Mediterranean. According to article 60 of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature a new substitute name is necessary, since Ransonia Blandin, 1979 does not have a junior synonym applicable and is a junior homonym of another genus. Therefore, we propose a replacement name for the spider genus as follows.

Three New Combinations and a New Synonym in the Subtribe Maxillariinae (Orchidaceae)

Joelcio Freitas; Elton John de Lírio

Based on previously published morphological and molecular analyses, a new classification for subtribe Maxillariinae (Orchidaceae) was proposed, and various genera were newly segregated. Among the combinations for species in those genera, three were not in accordance with the ICN. Here we propose three new combinations and a new synonym.
