The development method of the new CFT23 continuously variable transmission from ZF

ZF developed in cooperation with Ford a continuously variable automatic transmission, the CFT23 Ecotronic, which is used in the new Ford and Volvo-C platform derivatives. The Ford Focus C-MAX with a turbocharged 1.6 liter diesel engine is the first model from this product range to be produced. This report describes the development method and uses the results gained from the CFT23 development to describe this more specifically. This is supplemented by examples taken from the CFT23 Reliability Demonstration Matrix.

Die Entwicklungsmethode des neuen stufenlosen Automatikgetriebes CFT23 von ZF

ZF entwickelte gemeinsam mit Ford das stufenlose Automatikgetriebe CFT23 Ecotronic, das in den neuen Ford- und Volvo-C-Platform- Derivaten zur Anwendung kommt. Erstes Modell im Rahmen dieser Palette ist der Ford Focus C-MAX mit einem turboaufgeladenen 1,6-l-Dieselmotor. Der vorliegende Bericht beschreibt die Entwicklungsmethode und konkretisiert sie anhand der erzielten Resultate aus der CFT23-Entwicklung. Zur Erganzung dienen Beispiele aus der CFT23-Reliability-Demonstration-Matrix.
