Hydrogen — the fuel of the future — The BMW 750hl

Hydrogen (H2) produced from water with the aid of renewable energy is the cleanest of all energy storage media. During the course of its combustion with oxygen from the atmosphere, it reproduces its initial product, i.e. water. Against the backdrop of man’s ever increasing mobility demands, the introduction of this water circulation system is considered to be indispensable also in road traffic applications that make up approximately 12 % of global anthropogenic CO2 emissions. The fleet of 15 BMW 750hL vehicles that has been in operation since May 2000 points the way to environmentally-friendly, individual mobility that need not necessarily mean curtailment in practical suitability and may even contribute to increasing the benefits for the customer.

Wasserstoff (H2), produziert aus Wasser mit Hilfe erneuerbarer Energien, ist der sauberste Energietrager uberhaupt. Bei seiner Verbrennung mit Luftsauerstoff entsteht wieder das Ausgangsprodukt Wasser. Angesichts des steigenden Mobilitatsbedurfnisses des Menschen ist eine Einfuhrung dieses Wasserkreislaufs auch im bodengebundenen Verkehr, der etwa 12% zu den weltweiten anthropogenen CO2-Emissionen beitragt, unverzichtbar. Die seit Mai 2000 im Einsatz befindliche Flotte von 15 BMW 750hL-Fahrzeugen weist den Weg zu einer umweltfreundlichen individuellen Mobilitat, die keine Einbusen in der Praxistauglichkeit mit sich bringen muss und sogar mit einer Erhohung des Nutzwertes fur den Kunden verbunden sein kann.
