Reproducibility of simultaneous distillation-extraction techniques used in the isolation of volatiles

Abstract Simultaneous distillation-extraction (SDE) techniques are commonly used to isolate the volatile components of natural products prior to gas chromatographic analysis. Quantitative comparison of such extracts requires an understanding of the reproducibility of the isolation and analytical procedures used. A reproducibility study to compare two designs of SDE apparatus used in such isolation procedures is described.
