Method and apparatus for disposing of drill cuttings at an offshore location

A method and system for discharging oil-contaminated drill cuttings into a marine environment includes a discharge member forming a continuous slide in which there is no free fall impact of the drill cuttings with hard objects that could cause break up or disintegration of the drill cuttings.

Drilling Fluids Selection, Performance, and Quality Control

The composition and properties of selected drilling fluids and the influence of the quality and kinds of mud materials on their properties are discussed. The fluids considered are currently in use. With many sources of supply for mud-treating chemicals, it is important for operators to maintain some system of quality control to ensure receipt of products that will perform as expected.
