The contributions compares the similarities and differences between the resentments held by members of the lower nobility in France and in German lands against the wars of the period and the critical analysis produced about how these wars had come about. In effect, this common resentment led, under the different circumstances in Germany and in France, to quite anti monarchical resentments in Germany, but to a strong preference of a strong king in France
