Towards a Multiagent Approach for the VERDINO Prototype

Evelio J. González; Leopoldo Acosta; Alberto F. Hamilton; Jonatán Felipe; M. Sigut; Jonay Toledo; Rafael Arnay

This paper presents a work in progress about the design and development of a multiagent system for an autonomous vehicle (VERDINO). This vehicle (a standard golf cart) has been provided with many different sensors and actuators. The future multiagent system is intended to manage the data provided by the sensors and act on steering orientation and brake and throttle pedals.

An infrared and neuro-fuzzy-based approach for identification and classification of road markings

G.N. Marichal; Evelio J. González; Leopoldo Acosta; Jonay Toledo; M. Sigut; Jonatán Felipe

A low-cost infrared and Neuro-Fuzzy-based approach for identification and classification of road markings is presented in this paper. The main task of the designed prototype, implemented at the University of La Laguna, is to collect information by a set of infrared sensors and to process it in an intelligent mode. As an example, it should inform the driver about the different signs and elements it is driving on, complementing other well-known and widely used security devices. For the identification and classification stages, a Neuro-Fuzzy approach has been chosen; given it is a good option in order to get fuzzy rules and memberships functions in an automatic way.

FOUR ROTOR HELICOPTER CONTROL LABORATORY PLANT

Jonay Toledo; Leopoldo Acosta; M. Sigut; Jonatán Felipe; Néstor Morales; Santiago Torres

Abstract In this paper, a test-bed for teaching in multivariable system is presented. Firstly, the different aspects of the prototype construction will be described, making a special emphasis in the mechanics, the design of the sensorial and actuation systems and the prototype control. Next, the real time control software will be explained. The mathematical model of the plant is presented in order to design a control strategy, test it in simulation and validate in the real system.

Intelligent Agents and Apache Cocoon for a CV Generation System

Evelio J. González; Alberto F. Hamilton; Lorenzo Moreno; Juan A. Méndez; Graciliano Nicolás Marichal; José F. Sigut; M. Sigut; Jonatán Felipe

A dynamic system - based on multiagent systems (MAS) with XML and Apache Cocoon - for the automatic and dynamic generation of CV documents is presented in this paper. This pretends to be a useful application in particular for an academic and research environment, since every University model usually requires its members to manage a big amount of personal data, such as publications in journals and conferences attended. The application presented in this paper appears as a Web portal where the users - in this case, professors and research students- can manage their CV data, where the authors remark the dynamic generation of the Web environment.

Stability Analisys of a Four Rotor Helicopter

Jonay Toledo; Leopoldo Acosta; M. Sigut; Jonatán Felipe

In this paper the lifting operators are presented and applied to a multifrequency system to carry out the analytical study of the system stability without using non-linear operators. A four rotor helicopter prototype has been constructed with the idea of studying the results obtained with different strategies in order to find the one that allows to reach the best control of the helicopter. The prototype is provided with different types of sensors for determining its position and orientation with respect to the floor. These sensors send information to the control system at different frequencies, which justifies the use of the lifting methodology in order to simplify the analytical study of the closed-loop system stability.

A Multiagent Architecture Applied to Dynamic Generation of CV Documents

Evelio J. González; Alberto F. Hamilton; Lorenzo Moreno; Jonatán Felipe; Vanessa Muñoz

The aim of this paper is to present a dynamic system for the automatic and dynamic generation of CV documents in an academic and research environment. For that purpose, the authors have integrated Multiagent Systems (MAS) with XML and Apache Cocoon, designing a web portal where the users can manage their CV data. Regarding to the use of Apache Cocoon and apart from showing its great potential, one of the main contributions of the work presented in this paper consists of the dynamic generation of the web environment.

Jonatán Felipe; Leopoldo Acosta; M. Sigut; Jonay Toledo; Santiago Torres; J.D. Rodríguez

Abstract The goal of this paper is to show how a low-cost self-guided electric vehicle can navigate in an autonomous way using the information provided by the vision system in a non-structured environment. After carrying out the appropriate on-line processing of the images, the information about the curves and changes in the slope of the road is sent to the control system. This system, consisting in a fuzzy controller, is the responsible for acting both the traction and steering motors in order to dynamically adapt the velocity and direction of the vehicle to the conditions of the road.
