Investigation of boiling heat transfer characteristics of two-phase closed thermosyphons with various internal grooves

Ku-Il Han; Dong-Hyun Cho; Jong-Un Park

The boiling heat transfer characteristics of two-phase closed thermosyphons with internal grooves are studied experimentally and a simple mathematical model is developed to predict the performance of such thermosyphons. The study focuses on the boiling heat transfer characteristics of a two-phase closed thermosyphons with copper tubes having 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 internal grooves. A two-phase closed thermosyphon with plain copper tube having the same inner and outer diameter as those of grooved tube is also tested for comparison. Methanol is used as working fluid. The effects of the number of grooves, the operating temperature, the heat flux are investigated experimentally. From these experimental results, a simple mathematical model is developed. In the present model, boiling of liquid pool in the evaporator is considered for the heat transfer mechanism of the thermosyphon. And also the effects of the number of grooves, the operating temperature, the heat flux are brought into consideration. A good agreement between the boiling heat transfer coefficient of the thermosyphon estimated from experimental results and the predictions from the present mathematical model is obtained. The experimental results show that the number of grooves and the amount of the working fluid are very important factors for the operation of thermosyphons. The two-phase closed thermosyphon with copper tubes having 60 internal grooves shows the best boiling heat transfer performance.

A Study on Students', Parents', and Teachers' Change of Perception on Creativity and Character Education through Operation of Creativity and Character Model School

Beodeul Kang; Jong-Un Park

Abstract The purpose of this study was to investigate the change of perceptions of students’, parents’, teachers’ on creativity and character education at the model school for creativity and character education. This study used pre and post tests to examine the effects of creativity and character education on students, parents, and teachers. The results were as follows. Firstly, operating model school for creativity and character education brought about the statistically meaningful changes of students’ perception on creativity and character education. However, the changes seemed that the level of their perception on creativity and character education was not rational as the average is about 3.5 point. Secondly, operating model school for creativity and character education brought about the statistically meaningful changes of parents’ perception on creativity and character education. However, the changes seemed that the level of their perception on creativity and character education was not rational as the average was about 3.5 point like their children. thirdly, operating model school for creativity and character education brought about the statistically meaningful changes of teachers’ perception on creativity and character education. The changes seemed that the level of their perception on creativity and character education was rational as the average was about 4.5 point unlike their students and school parents. Fourthly, it seemed that the perception on creativity and character education showed a difference among students, school parents, and teachers.Key words : Creativity․character model school, Creativity․character education, Creative activityCorresponding author : 051-629-5971, [email protected]

Jong-Un Park; Beodeul Kang; In-Hum Baek

Abstract NCS development for construction of marine terminal structure was carried out through following procedures such as analysis on characteristics, analysis on duty, development of the first draft for standards, validation of industry sites, duty competency standards through expert committee, and utilizing package. The results were as follows. Firstly, duty competency was classified as levels from 3 to 7. Educational training institutions were followed by 22 universities, 21 colleges, 16 graduate schools, and 10 high schools. Secondly, developed standards were consisted of duty and competency unit. The name of duty was construction of marine terminal structure and competency units were consisted of 9 items as survey on economic effect, evaluation of conditions on construction environment, plan for construction of structure, construction of transfer, mooring, and power equipment, and construction, startup test, and maintenance of terminal structure. 33 competency unit elements below 9 competency units were developed. Thirdly, utilizing package was developed into 3 areas of life-long career path, training criteria, and guidelines for exam according to national competency standards for in order to develop development of labor’s career and perform personal management such as hiring and promotion in industry sites.Key words : NCS, Duty Competency, Utilizing package, Construction Marine terminal structureCorresponding author : 051-629-5977, [email protected] ( ) (2015).

Abstract The purpose of this study was to clarify the meaning of marine officer’s self-efficacy, job satisfaction, definition of self-development and factors of determination. It shows that how their self-efficacy affects job satisfaction, self-development and that how their job satisfaction affects self-development. To achieve the purpose of the research, checked the definition and factors of marine officer’s duty, self-efficacy, job satisfaction and self-development. Furthermore, cultivated a research model about the factors to influence between self-efficacy and job satisfaction, self-efficacy and self-development, job satisfaction and self-development. A result of hypothesis test by regression analysis is that 11 hypotheses were adopted among 17, and the rest of them were dismissed. The contents of hypotheses were set as follows; self-efficacy and internal job satisfaction, self-efficacy and external job satisfaction, self-efficacy and self-development, job satisfaction and self-development.Key words : Marine officer, Self-efficacy, Job satisfaction, Self-developmentCorresponding author : 051-629-5972, [email protected]

Exploring Plans to Improve the Onboard Training Management for Fisheries High School

Jong-Un Park; Beodeul Kang; Ki-Tae Lee

This study aimed at exploring, based on the current states and status of onboard training ship, plans to improve the boarding training management for fisheries high school. The results were as follows. The problems with the management of onboard training ship were summarized as the following four types. Firstly, The most training ships throughout the country became superannuated. Secondly, the safe equipments for training ships were necessary to compensate the defects to fall short of the international safety management standards. Thirdly, the problems could result from the dualized system between ownership and management, since training ships were owned by metropolitan and provincial education offices and operated by management centered schools. Fourthly, middle technicians such as professional fisheries manpower were not easily supplied with. The plans to improve the above problems were as in the following. Firstly, support and help of Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries were needed to launch new onboard training ships which substitute for the superannuated. Secondly, new onboard ships were required to be launched according to the updated international safety management standards. Thirdly, Korea Institute of Maritime and Fisheries Technology should hold onboard training. Fourthly, on-site onboard training expertise, systemic management, safety, etc. should be compensated through industry-university-institute collaboration.
