Reavaliando o Bem Sex-Role Inventory

The aim of this study was to evaluate the structure of the Bem Sex-Role Inventory, answered by a non-probabilistic sample of Brazilian men and women. More than a decade after the last Brazilian review of the Inventory, it has become necessary to conduct a fresh examination, due to the strong cultural influence regarding its content. The scale was applied to 922 subjects recruited from several locations in Porto Alegre (in the state of Rio Grande do Sul) and its metropolitan area. An evaluation of the structure of the scale was carried out using Factorial Analysis. In addition, the reliability of the scale was also examined. The findings were compared to previous studies. Generally speaking, the evidence strongly supports the approved version, thereby qualifying it to be used in psychological research.

Evidências de Validade de Construto da Escala de Componentes do Amor

Nos anos oitenta, psicologos sociais iniciaram o uso de tecnicas psicometricas, como analise de componentes principais, para desenvolver modelos do amor. O objetivo deste estudo foi submeter a versao brasileira da Escala de Componentes do Amor (Critelli, Myers & Loos, 1986) a uma analise fatorial exploratoria. Participaram 491 pessoas que estavam em relacionamentos amorosos. Foram extraidos cinco fatores que explicaram 67% da variância comum. Os alfas de Cronbach variaram de 0,82 a 0,92, revelando forte consistencia interna para os itens da medida. Ademais, foram encontrados coeficientes de correlacao moderados fortes com a Escala Triangular do Amor-R de Sternberg (1986). Estes resultados forneceram evidencias de validade fatorial, convergente e de consistencia interna para os escores do instrumento.

Evidências de validade da Escala de Avaliação do Relacionamento

This exploratory and confirmatory study sought evidence for the validity of the Relationship Assessment Scale of Hendrick. A total of 201 people of both sexes that lived with their partners in the city of Joao Pessoa, Paraiba, participated in the first study. The exploratory factor analysis for the principal components of the scale scores extracted an initial solution with one factor responsible for explaining 61% of the total variance and a coefficient alpha of 0.89. A total of 538 people involved in different types of affective relationships from Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, participated in the second study. The confirmatory factor analysis (GFI = 0.97, CMIN/DF ratio = 3.62) indicated the appropriateness of the model. Analysis of the correlations of this scale with other measures of relationship satisfaction revealed statistically significant correlations, which ranged from high-moderate to high. These findings showed factorial validity, convergent and internal consistency for scores from different cultures.
