Taking the great change that began in the 1960s in terms of Church, society, and education in Brazil as a starting point, this article extends the existing discussion by turning its attention to th...Taking the great change that began in the 1960s in terms of Church, society, and education in Brazil as a starting point, this article extends the existing discussion by turning its attention to three fundamental aspects of it: (1) how to manage and coordinate Catholic education; (2) how to deal with the diversification process of the religious sphere in Brazil; and (3) how to make Catholic education effectively consistent in a healthy relationship with the laicity of the State (secular State). The article concludes with some provocations to advance in the process of reflection.

RELAÇÕES ENTRE SER HUMANO E NATUREZA: UMA REFLEXÃO SOBRE A SOCIEDADE CONTEMPORÂNEA

Este artigo se constitui como um aporte teorico na perspectiva de uma reflexao sobre os valores que orientam as relacoesdo ser humano entre si e deste com anatureza. Apresenta uma discussao sobre a producao da subjetividade na sociedade contemporâneano contexto onde a qualidade de vida recoloca os valores associadosa vida e a dignidade. Questiona o atual modelo desenvolvimento que exacerba a degradacao socioambiental, exaure a natureza e aumenta as desigualdades sociais. Urge, neste contexto, investir na mudanca de valores e atitudes socioambientais, pois que a degradacao do ambiente reflete, em ultima instância, a propria degradacao dos seres humanos e da humanidade, em sua incapacidade de reconhecimento de sua propria dignidade e do valor da vida.

Práticas Sociais Religiosas: um estudo sociológico pontual

This paper explores the concept of Religious Social Practices (RSP) and presents a synthesis of the main results of a research conducted by the authors about these practices in some cities of the Sinos River Valley in the Metropolitan Area of Porto Alegre, Brazil. The research contains a triple approach to RSP, taking into consideration the production of society as a whole, the fields of activity and the personal dynamics of the subjects and their identities. Besides reporting on the main results of the research project, the article points out some hypothesis and suggestions for further studies involving institutional, ideological, political and subjective processes.
