Abstract A remote induction motor bench into an industrial environment is presented in this paper. It lets a powerful way of studying new identification, control or predictive maintenance algorithms independently the place where the methods are implemented. The World-Wide-Web (WWW), as the fastest growing Internet service, is seen as an effective tool for this propose. In effect, the Web is a distributed multimedia environment, which potentially can provide this service. This paper describes the hardware and software constructs, which facilitate the experiment remotely and efficiently.

Abstract There have been numerous improvements to optimize the insulin treatment of patients with Diabetes Mellitus during the last years. Several model-based algorithms to regulate the insulin flow from a pump, given a sensor measurement have been developed. Our opinion is that this kind of algorithms can be improved with information about the state of the autonomous nervous system and in this way we could improve the treatment of these patients. A scheme of glycaemia regulation considering the influence of the Neuro-Endocrine system is proposed here. The results of a preliminary experiment designed to study the relationships between both systems is presented.

Abstract This paper describes an industrial fault detection and isolation system to be exploited in two hydroelectric power stations. The system has several components, but this paper focuses on the model-based diagnosis subsystem. This has been applied to the turbine and generator of one of the plants. The residuals are obtained from the turbine and generator mathematical model, but its equations have to be modified to adapt to the constraints imposed for the hydraulic plant operation. The decision-making system is built using simulation results
