Magnetic Properties of Optical Quantum Transition Line Shapes and Line Widths of Electron–Piezoelectric Potential Phonon Interacting Materials under Circularly Oscillating Fields

Joung Young Sug; Su Ho Lee; Jun Yong Choi; Geon Sa-Gong; Jong Jae Kim

We study optical quantum transition line shapes (QTLSs) and optical quantum transition line widths (QTLWs) in relation to magnetic-field dependence properties of the electron–piezoelectric potential phonon interaction system. We consider two systems – one is subject to right circularly oscillating external fields and the other is subject to left circularly oscillatory external fields. The main purpose of this work is to compare QTLSs, which indicate absorption power, in the two oscillating external fields. Our results indicate that the QTLSs of right circularly oscillating external fields is larger than the QTLSs of left circularly oscillating external fields, while the opposite result is obtained for the QTLWs.

The magnetic field dependence of the deformation potential materials in the square well confinement potential

Joung Young Sug; Su H. Lee; Jong J. Kim

We study the optical Quantum Transition Line Shapes (QTLS) which show the absorption power and the Quantum Transition Line Widths (QTLW) of electron-deformation potential phonon interacting systems. In order to analyze the quantum transition, we compare the magnetic field dependencies of the QTLWand the QTLS on two transition processes, namely the intra-Landau level transition process and the inter-Landau level transition process. We apply the Quantum Transport theory (QTR) to the system in the confinement of electrons by square well confinement potential. We use the projected Liouville equation method with Equilibrium Average Projection Scheme (EAPS).

SummaryA theory of direct interband optical transitions in the electronphonon system is introduced on the basis of the Kubo formalism and by using Mori’s method of calculation. The line shape functions are introduced in two different ways and are compared with those obtained by Choi and Chung based on Argyres and Sigel’s projection technique. Comparison of two theories of interband magneto-optical absorption lineshape

Sang Don Choi; Ok Hee Chung; Joung Young Sug; Hyun Mo Cho

Abstract Two theories of interband magneto-optical absorption lineshape due to electron-phonon and electron-impurity interactions are presented. The theory based on the proper connected diagram method is almost reduced to the one based on the projection operator method in the quite weak coupling limit.

Using the equilibrium density projection operator technique (EDPT), we calculate the lineshape function for the magneto-optical direct interband transition in an electron-phonon system. We present the calculation processes for obtaining the scattering factor using the EDPT. We introduce two useful identities necessary to expand the elements of the scattering factor. We derive a cancellation relation which simplifies the expansion of the scattering factor. We obtain the lineshape function in the case of a weak interaction and compared our results with those of other theories.

Magnetic dependence of cyclotron transition absorption in piezoelectric materials based on the quantum transport theory

Joung Young Sug; Su Ho Lee; Chan Hoi Jung; Soon Kook Kim; Jun Hee Lee; In Sung Kim; Soon Jong Jeong

SummaryA non-linear form for the current in a many-electron system which is subject to an oscillatory electric field is derived by starting with the Liouville equation and with the help of the combined projection technique which combines the techniques of Kenkre and of Argyres and Sigel. The primary projection operator yields the general expression for the current in the Fourier-Laplace transformed space. The secondary, combined projection operator generates the lowest order of non-linearity in the expression. The final result is given in a time-retarded form, but not in a continued-fraction form.

ABSTRACT We consider two systems—the one system is subject to circularly polarized oscillatory external fields and the other system is subject to linearly polarized oscillatory external field. The main purpose of this work is that comparisons of the optical quantum transition line shapes (QTLS) which show the absorption power and the quantum transition line widths (QTLW) in both directional polarized oscillatory external field. Our results indicate that the QTLS of circularly polarized oscillatory external field is larger than the QTLS of linearly polarized oscillatory external field, while the opposite result is obtained for the QTLW. In both directional polarized oscillatory external field, we analyze the temperature dependence of the QTLS and the QTLW in various cases. In order to analyze the quantum transition, we compare the temperature dependence of the QTLW and QTLS of two transition process, the intra Landau level transition process and the inter Landau level transition process. We study the thermal properties of electron-piezoelectric phonon interacting system in the confinement of electrons by square well confinement potential. We use the projected Liouville equation method with Equilibrium Average Projection Scheme (EAPS).
