Oxime of 1-methyl-3-trifluoroacetylpyrrolidin-2-one

The title compound, 3-(1-hydroxyimino-2,2,2-trifluoroethyl)-1-methylpyrrolidin-2-one, C7H9F3N2O2, is obtained by condensation of 1-methyl-3-trifluoroacetyl-pyrrolidin-2-one and hydroxylamine without ring opening of the lactam. The least-squares planes through the pyrrolidine and oxime groups are approximately perpendicular to each other.
