Evaluating the resources in a tourism destination is one of the previous tasks in the development of its comprehensive planning. There are many criteria to use in order to evaluate tourism resources; but, independently on the number of attributes considered the fact is that not every criterion is equally important in the process of evaluation and ranking of the tourism potential of a destinations resources. In contrast to other well-known methodologies, the aim of this paper is to propose a methodology to weight qualitative and hierarchical evaluation attributes by estimating a discrimination parameter. In this research, an item response theory (IRT) model is used, the graded response model, to estimate each attributes discrimination coefficient. This parameter will be the basis to propose a weighting system for the entire set of attributes. Graded response model (GRM) will also allow establishing a hierarchy of resources by constructing a continuous latent scale, where it will be possible to position every analysed resource in the tourism destination. The applicability and robustness of the IRT methodology will be tested using data from rural tourism resources in the Spanish province of Cáceres.Evaluating the resources in a tourism destination is one of the previous tasks in the development of its comprehensive planning. Throughout history hunting has been exercised for various purposes until, in the twentieth century, became a phenomenon essentially recreational. This change introduced a debate in society about the role of hunting as a leisure activity and consumptive, at a time which hunting tourism grows gradually. The speech of the article focuses on the role that hunting plays in nature conservation, as well as the initiatives being undertaken at different scales, to make tourism a sustainable hunting.

Protected areas have grown very quickly in the last century, achieving significant figures which, however, vary very significantly from one country to another. This interest in protecting natural areas is related, in the current context, with different objectives: scientific, educational, recreational and socioeconomic. As a result, we have a new scenario in which certain traditional uses are being affected. Hunting is undoubtedly one of the best examples of traditional activity that is being affected by this process. With this background, this paper analyses the general situation of protected natural spaces in Extremadura in relation to hunting. This analysis takes into account the fact that a third of the regional territory is protected by some of the existing mechanisms and, moreover, these spaces are distributed in areas where hunting has been a traditional activity that has helped to keep the spaces in a good state of conservation.
