ABSTRACT Universities have been entrusted with the task of qualifying professionals for their future practice. In light of this, the present study analysed the competencies perceived by 80 physical education students of a public university in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil, enrolled in the subject Outdoor Adventure Sports. An exploratory descriptive investigation was conducted with a qualitative approach. The content analysis technique was applied, and analysis categories were created according to a specific professional competence model. The findings indicate that the students perceived themselves as more competent in social/vocational, intra-professional, ethical and theoretical aspects of the profession, respectively. This study demonstrates that principles and values of outdoor adventure sports could contribute to the perception and development of some competencies, depending on the context and forms of mediation.

The training, education and outlook of most health professionals does not take into consideration humanistic perspectives. However, it is believed that through a more personal approach, hospitals and other institutions focused on health promotion and rehabilitation may become more knowledgeable in ways to improve patient health and quality of life. This chapter aims to investigate the relationship of the ludic component of health care (i.e., playfulness) to the overall rehabilitation process. It looks at treatment services provided by a group of volunteers and professionals in a singing group of a public health institution in Florianopolis (Santa Catarina, southern Brazil). A group consisting of social workers, nurses, volunteers and others, with preliminary patient data in hand, went to the homes of patients to play musical instruments and perform songs. This practice contributed to the patients’ recovery process.

Este estudo tem como objetivo analisar a percepcao de competencias de instrutores de atividades de aventura na natureza atuantes em Florianopolis (SC). Realizou-se uma pesquisa descritivo-exploratoria e quantitativa. Participaram 22 instrutores (18 do sexo masculino e quatro do feminino), com idade media de 39,5±12,1 anos. Utilizou-se um questionario validado para este estudo, contendo 27 perguntas baseadas no modelo de competencia profissional de Cheetham e Chivers (1996, 1998) e na norma 15285 da Associacao Brasileira de Normas Tecnicas (2005) sobre as competencias necessarias aos instrutores. Para analisar os dados, aplicou-se a estatistica descritiva. A maioria dos instrutores percebe dominar totalmente as competencias cognitivas, funcionais, sociais, eticas e fatores relacionados (metacompetencias, personalidade, reflexao, avaliacao, empreendedorismo). Contudo, em todas ha pelo menos um instrutor que percebe domina-las parcialmente e ha um que percebe nao dominar duas competencias funcionais relativas a seguranca dos participantes. Um instrutor tambem acredita nao dominar a capacidade de empreender.

This qualitative study aimed at comparing results regarding pro-environmental behavior of elderly practitioners and conductors of adventure activities. The Ecocentrism and Anthropocentrism Scale (THOMPSON; BARTON, 1994) was applied to intentional samples of elderly practitioners and young adult conductors of adventure activities in nature. Data were descriptively analyzed by content analysis and indicate that elderly and younger adults are included in the ecocentric dimension. However, the former are more anthropocentric and environmentally apathetic. New studies are suggested to subsidize new action strategies in the Human Motricity field, to stimulate the development of pro-environmental behavior.
