PROTON ABUNDANCE IN HOT NEUTRON STAR MATTER

By solving the finite-temperature Hartree-Fock equations with effective interaction, the proton abundance in hot neutron star matter is investigated. It is found that the proton fraction increases remarkably as the temperature goes high, which is caused mainly by the entropy production due to the proton and electron contaminations.
