Sex and class in Latin America

June Nash; Helen Icken Safa

In Third World countries class inequalities are more impinging than sex inequalities. This is a volume which compiles articles from a variety of social science disciplines dealing with the interrelationship of exploitation by class and sex in Latin America. The ideological reinforcements of sexual subordination and the impact of modernization and industrialization on womens roles and status are also dealt with. Womens subordination and changing role in the following 3 areas are the main subjects dealt with by the material: 1) women in the family; 2) women in their work roles; and 3) the political participation of women.
