Leafminers are the mostimportant insect pests of vegetables inHangzhou area, Zhejiang province, SoutheastChina as well as in the rest of China, but havenever been investigated for speciescomposition, relative abundance and theirassociated parasitoids. A survey was conductedin four localities of Hangzhou area during 1998–2000to determine the distribution ofleafminers and their parasitoids on vegetablecrops and weeds in the field. Over 20,000leafminers were collected and reared. Theleafminer species found were Liriomyzasativae, L. chinensis and Chromatomyia horticola, with C.horticola and L. sativae the mostabundant in spring and autumn, respectively.About 11,000 parasitoid adults were reared fromthe leafminers collected. In total 14hymenopteran species of four families (onebraconid, 10 eulophids, one megaspilid and onepteromalid) were found. Eleven species werereared from C. horticola, nine from L. sativae and seven from L. chinensis.Opius caricivorae and Chrysocharispentheus were the dominant species. Sevenspecies were recorded from L. chinensisfor the first time. Eleven parasitoid specieswere reared from leafminers on two weeds (Veronica undulata and Sonchusoleraceus). Parasitoids caused 48.5–68.8%parasitism on leafminers on crops and 83.7%parasitism on leafminers on weeds in the latergrowing season of vegetable crops. The resultssuggest that leafminer populations areregulated to a certain extent by their naturalenemies in the field.

Two new species of Dryinidae (Hymenoptera: Chrysidoidea) from China.

Zaifu Xu; Massimo Olmi; Junhua He

ABSTRACT Two new species, Fiorianteon isoneuron sp. nov and Anteon gaoligongense sp. nov, are described, respectively, from Xiaowutaishan Provincial Nature Reserve (Hebei Province, China) and Gaoligongshan National Nature Reserve (Yunnan Province, China). Fiorianteon isoneuron can be recognized from the related Palaearctic species F. junonium Olmi by the different shape of parameres (without a notch in dorsal view in F. junonium, with a deep notch in F. isoneuron) and stigmal vein (distal part much shorter than proximal part in F. junonium, about as long as in F. isoneuron). Anteon gaoligongense can be recognized from the related Oriental species A. indicum Olmi by the different shape of segment 5 of fore tarsus (with basal part much longer than distal part in A. indicum, slightly shorter than distal part in Anteon gaoligongense). Keys are provided for the determinations of the above species with illustrations of male genitalia and female chelae. Translation provided by the authors.

Two New Species of Dryinus Latreille (Hymenoptera: Dryinidae) from China

Zaifu Xu; Massimo Olmi; Junhua He

Abstract Two new species, Dryinus chenae and Dryinus expolitus, are described from Jianfengling National Nature Reserve (Hainan Province, China). Dryinus chenae can be recognized from the related Oriental species D. lini Olmi and D. lianus Xu, Olmi & He by the different OPL/TL ratio (OPL as long as TL in D. chenae, much shorter than TL in D. lini, much longer than TL in D. lianus). Dryinus expolitus can be recognized from the related Oriental species D. choui Olmi by the different sculpture (scutum granulated, with a few small areolae near the posterior margin in D. expolitus; almost completely reticulate rugose, with only the anterior surface of the median region granulated in D. choui) and color (pronotum black in D. expolitus, broadly testaceous in D. choui). Keys are provided for the determinations of the above species with illustrations of female chelae.

Two New Species of Anteon (Hymenoptera: Dryinidae) from China

Zaifu Xu; Massimo Olmi; Junhua He

ABSTRACT n Two new species, Anteon liui sp. nov. and Anteon zhangae sp. nov., are described from China. The first species was collected in Henan Province, Mt. Baiyunshan, and Zhejiang Province, Mt. Fenyangshan; the second species was collected in Guizhou Province, Mt. Leigongshan. Anteon liui can be recognized from the related Oriental species A. hirashimai Olmi 1993 and A. austini Olmi 1991 by the different length of notauli (reaching about 0.65 length of scutum in A. liui, reaching 0.3–0.4 length of scutum in A. hirashimai and A. austini). Anteon zhangae can be recognized from the related Oriental species A. muiri Olmi 1984 by the following characters: in A. muiri, notauli reaching about 0.65 length of scutum; scutum weakly punctate; head with OOL more than twice as long as OL; in A. zhangae, notauli reaching about 0.8 length of scutum; scutum sculptured by large and deep punctures similar to areolae; head with OOL slightly longer than OL.
