Distribution of renin in the dog kidney

Abstract 1. 1. The renal cortex was cut into 10 zones from the surface to the juxtamedullary area, and the distribution pattern of renin was comparatively studied with that of the localization of glomeruli in dogs. 2. 2. Renin content was high in the superficial cortex, and low in the deep cortex and in the subcapsular area. 3. 3. Distribution pattern of glomeruli was similar to that of renin, but the gradient was milder than that of renin.

Effect of folic acid on plasma renin activity in rats

Summary1.Folic acid was parenterally administered in a dose of 250 μg/kg to rats. The rats were sacrificed at 48 h and 96 h after the injection. Angiotensin I and renin activity in the blood plasma and kidney were determined by radioimmunoassay.2.Renin activity and angiotensin I concentration in plasma were significantly increased by the administration of folic acid, and a linear relationship was observed between both parameters.3.No changes were found in the kidney weight, its renin and protein contents, and plasma sodium concentration by folic acid administration.
