Abstract The inclusive production of π+, π−, K+, K−, p and p for protons incident on carbon and tungsten targets was studied at the Internal Target Area of the Fermilab. We assume an Aα dependence for the inclusive cross sections and report here on the variation of α with incident momentum, transverse momentum and particle species.

We have observed the ..pi../sup +/..pi../sup -/ decay of the rho(1600) in the production reaction ..gamma..p..-->..rhop at 20 GeV. Using a calculation which takes into account the interference of the rho with the rho(770) and a Drell background, we find good evidence that this resonance is a radial excitation of the rho(770). The background interference strongly distorts the angular distributions predicted by a purely s-channel helicity-conserving production mechanism. We measure m/sub 0/ = (1.55 +- 0.07) GeV/c/sup 2/ and GAMMA/sub 0/ = (0.28/sub -0.08//sup +0.03/) GeV/c/sup 2/.

Measurements of the semileptonic weak neutral-current reactions ..nu../sub ..mu../p..--> nu../sub ..mu../p and nu-bar/sub ..mu../p..-->..nu-bar/sub ..mu../p which yield the absolute differential cross sections dsigma(..nu../sub ..mu../p)/dQ/sup 2/ and dsigma(nu-bar/sub ..mu../p)/dQ/sup 2/ described. The weak-neutral-current parameter, sin/sup 2/theta/sub W/, is determined to be sin/sup 2/theta/sub W/ = 0.220 +- 0.016 (stat)/sub -0.031//sup +0.023/(syst).
