A technologically convenient method is suggested for the high-yield synthesis of 2,4,6-trihydroxytoluene (methylphloroglucinol) from 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene. A number of structurally different azo dyes have been synthesized. The dyes are applicable to various textiles, ensuring high colorfastness to laundering and rubbing.

The kinetics of the macromolecular reaction of amination of PVA—PGMA graft copolymer is quantitatively described. The initial rate of the process, order of the reaction rate in amine, and effective activation energy are determined. The effect of the nature of the polymer matrix on the kinetic parameters of conversion of graft PGMA α-oxide groups under the effect of hydroxyethylamine is established.
