A parameter-free Reggeized absorption model for meson-baryon scattering

S. A. Adjei; P.A. Collins; B.J. Hartley; K. J. M. Moriarty; R.W. Moore

Abstract A Reggeized absorption model containing no free parameters to be fitted to the data being explained is applied to a wide range of meson-baryon scattering reactions. This model incorporates U(6, 6) ⊗ O(3, 1) symmetry and strong exchange degeneracy in the pole-graph amplitudes. The agreement between the theoretical predictions and the experimental data on differential cross sections, polarizations and spin density matrix elements is extremely encouraging.

A parameter-free Reggeized absorption model for Δ (1236) production in proton-proton reactions

S. A. Adjei; P.A. Collins; B.J. Hartley; K. J. M. Moriarty; R.W. Moore

Abstract A Reggeized absorption model containing no free parameters to be fitted by the data under consideration is applied to single and double Δ(1236) production in proton-proton reactions in the energy range 5–24 GeV/ c . Extremely favourable agreement is obtained between the theoretical predictions and the experimental data on differential cross sections and density matrix elements.

TheU6,6 peripheral absorption model for production processes

H. D. D. Watson; R. Migneron; K. J. M. Moriarty; D. G. Fincham; A. P. Hunt

SummaryThe absorption model is applied to a wide range of mesonbaryon, baryon-baryon, baryon-antibaryon, and photoproduction processes at intermediate energies.U6,6 is used to uniquely determine the coupling of the exchanged pseudoscalar and vector mesons.

The U (6,6) ⊗ O (3,1) peripheral absorption model and the production of 2+ and 1+ mesons

T.K. Gujadhur; R. Migneron; K. J. M. Moriarty

Abstract The peripheral model incorporating U (6,6) ⊗ O(3,1) couplings is applied to the production of 2 + and 1 + mesons in pion-nucleon and kaon-nucleon collisions at intermediate energies. The agreement with experiment is good where pion exchange is the dominant mechanism and fails for the other reactions.

Absorption model and U(6,6) for photoproduction processes

D. G. Fincham; A. P. Hunt; J. H. R. Migneron; K. J. M. Moriarty

Abstract The absorption model is applied to photoproduction processes at intermediate en energies assuming vector dominance. U(6,6) is used to uniquely determine the couplings of the exchanged pseudoscalar and vector mesons.

The generalized veneziano model for π−p→K0K0n

P.A. Collins; B.J. Hartley; R.W. Moore; K. J. M. Moriarty

The model proposed by Petersson and Tornqvist [1] is applied to the process π−p→K0K0n at 12 GeV/c. Th results are compared with the data used by Chan et al. in an application of a double Regge model [2] to this process.

F. D. Gault; B.J. Hartley; J. H. R. Migneron; K. J. M. Moriarty

SummaryThe peripheral absorption model withU6,6 symmetry imposed at the vertices and a recently proposed modification to the model are applied to backward π±p scattering and the results compared.

Application of a parameter-free reggeized absorption model to spin-2 + production

P. A. Collins; B.J. Hartley; R.W. Moore; K. J. M. Moriarty

A Reggeized absorption model with no free parameters to be fitted to the data under consideration is applied to spin-2+ production reactions. The differential cross section and spin density matrix elements are well represented by the model for pion dominated reactions but less well for processes not proceeding by pseudoscalar exchange.

The U (6,6) ⊗ O(3,1) peripheral absorption model and production of the 52+ nucleon resonance

T.K. Gujadhur; R. Migneron; K. J. M. Moriarty

The peripheral Absorption model within U(6,6) ⊗ O(3,1) symmetry scheme is applied to the production of the 52+ in proton-proton collision at 5.5 GeV/c. Only pion exchange is considered; good agreement is obtained with experiment.

A Regge quark model for O-1/2+→O-1/2+ scattering

R W Moore; K. J. M. Moriarty; J H R Migneron

The authors present results of a Regge quark model fit to 2 body charge exchange and elastic O-1/2+ to O-1/2+ scattering. Both constant and exponential t-dependent residues are used; the latter giving the better description of the data.
