Prolonged administration of carbon tetrachloride initiated after the autotransplantation of ovary into the spleen inhibited tumour formation. Inhibition was probably due to liver damage produced by the drug, and the failure of the liver to destroy estrogens. Thiouracil did not influence the neoplastic transformation of the intralienal ovary. Morphologic examination of the endocrine organs favours the view that the intralienal ovarian tumours produce hormones. In the adenohypophysis, simultaneously with tumour formation in the autotransplanted ovary, cytomorphologic changes are indicative of diminished gonadotrophine production. Obviously an increased gonadotrophine production is necessary only for the onset of tumours not for their furthe development. In the adrenals atrophy of the zona reticularis occeurs. The frequency and the morphologic features of extraovarian tumours following the autotransplantation of the ovary into the spleen are discussed.
