Abstract Experimental results are presented for the polarization parameter P 0 in π ± p , K ± p , pp, and p p elastic scattering at 6 GeV/ c , and in the range of the invariant four-momentum transfer squared − t from 0.05 to ∼ 2.0 (GeV/ c ) 2 .

Abstract Experimental results are given for the polarization parameter P 0 in π − p scattering at 6.0, 8.0, 10.0 and 12.0 GeV/ c , and in π + p and pp scattering at 6.0, 10.0 and 12.0 GeV/ c . The invariant four-momentum transfer squared − t varies from 0.1 to 0.75 (GeV/ c ) 2 .

Polarization in backward π+p elastic scattering at 6 GeV/c

Abstract The polarization in backward π + p elastic scattering has been measured at 6 GeV/ c over the region + 0.04 ⩾ u ⩾ − 0.32 ( GeV / c ) 2 . The results indicate that the polarization is small in the region of the backward peak of dσ / du , but becomes large and negative beyond the dip. This behaviour is not predicted by recent models.
