Ansaugmodul mit Indirektem und Integriertem Ladeluftkühler

In einem gemeinsamen Projekt haben Behr und Mann+Hummel die direkte und die saugrohrintegrierte, indirekte Ladeluftkuhlung in einer Fahrzeugmessung im Windkanal miteinander verglichen. Im Vergleich zur Serienlosung mit direkter Ladeluftkuhlung konnte mit einem Prototypen-Ansaugmodul (Saugrohr mit indirektem saugrohrintegrierten Ladeluftkuhler) eine signifikante Reduzierung des Ladeluftdruckverlusts, eine sehr homogene Temperaturverteilung in den Schwingrohren und eine deutliche Reduzierung des Ladeluftvolumens zwischen Verdichter und Motoreintritt erreicht werden.

Intake module with indirect integrated charge air cooler

Within a common project of Behr and Mann+Hummel a comparison between direct and indirect charge air cooling integrated in the intake manifold was carried out by vehicle measurements in the wind tunnel. In comparison with the series-production solution based on direct charge air cooling, a prototype intake module (intake manifold with integrated indirect charge air cooler) significantly reduced charge air pressure loss, provided a highly uniform temperature distribution in the runners, and reduced the charge air volume between the compressor and point of entry into the engine.

Secondary-air charger for reducing cold-start emissions

Legislation has promoted continuous further development of the emission standards of gasoline engines. At the same time, the automotive industry has made successful efforts to comply with these standards. For a number of years, secondary-air injection into the exhaust system has been used as an effective means of reducing cold-start emissions. Mann+Hummel has now developed a new principle for the injection of secondary air, the so-called secondary-air charger.

Die Gesetzgebung hat eine kontinuierliche Weiterentwicklung der Emissionsstandards von Ottomotoren vorangetrieben. Parallel wurden von der Industrie erfolgreich Anstrengungen zur Einhaltung dieser Standards unternommen. Als wirksames Mittel, um beim Kaltstart die Emissionen zu senken, wird seit langem die Sekundarlufteinblasung in die Abgasanlage genutzt. Mann+Hummel hat ein neues Prinzip zur Einblasung von Sekundarluft entwickelt, den so genannten Sekundarluftlader.
