There are difficulties of describing the near-to-reality emission situation at the time of release from animal husbandry. Thus, for example, a so-called predilution of the initial concentration cannot be drawn into the distribution calculation of the program AUSTAL2000G, but rather, only a “half truth” is given with the consideration of the emission mass flow. The administration has more or less committed itself to AUSTAL2000G; the proof of the correctness of the distribution simulation is often only the proof of the use of the said program. In many cases, more attention is paid to adapting the start situation to this model application than to considering the given laws of physics.

Staub- und Schadgasfilter fur Tierhaltungsanlagen sind teuer in Anschaffung und Gebrauch. Es wird ein kostensparendes Konzept vorgestellt, das in eine grose Tierhaltungsanlage nachtraglich eingebaut worden war und auch in mehreren Neubauten realisiert wurde. Die gedrangte Stallbauweise erforderte eine platzsparende Losung. Ein Teil der Stallluft wird unterhalb des Spaltenbodens abgesaugt und einem Filter zugefuhrt, der deutlich kleiner bemessen ist als einer fur den Gesamtvolumenstrom. Getrennt davon werden durch eine spezielle Luftfuhrung oberhalb des Spaltenbodens die Stromungsverhaltnisse so verandert, dass weniger Ammoniak mitgenommen wird. Messungen in der Praxis zeigen: Die Filterung des kontinuierlich unter der Flur abgesaugten Volumenstroms, der maximal 25 % des Gesamtvolumenstromes ausmacht, ermoglicht bezuglich Ammoniak einen Gesamtwirkungsgrad der Anlage von 70 %. Auserdem sinken die stallinternen Schadgas-Konzentrationen erheblich.

Tierartspezifische Korrekturen in der GIRL falsch platziert — Vorschläge für eine Neufassung

The odour loads in the surrounding of animal houses are not simulated correctly in the new version of the program AUSTAL2000G that must be used for prognosis following the guideline GIRL. With respect to odour loads correction factors are introduced into the GIRL on the immission side. The effect of this problem solution is the same as caused by alteration of the odour concentration at the source on the emission side. The algorithms for odour mixtures are unnecessary when the source concentration involves the correction by animal factors: a great simplification. When the odour propagation module and the load module are connected by a density function of temporary concentrations the doubtful simplification caused by missing parameters is avoided. This means that load functions must be introduced into the load module.

Investigation of Ammonia Emission from Different Animal Houses

The necessary ventilation of animal houses leads to emissions and air-borne pollution in the surrounding of these buildings. Therefore in Germany guidelines exist to take care for minimum distances between livestock buildings and sensitive plants and ecosystems. To calculate the necessary distance knowledge is needed of the emission rates from the livestock building and of the dispersion behaviour.

Ammonia Emission from Broiler Houses and the Dispersion of this Emission in the Surroundings

The necessary ventilation of animal houses leads to emissions and air-borne pollution in the surroundings of these buildings. Ammonia can cause direct damage to plants in the immediate surroundings of livestock buildings and the odor emissions can lead to annoyances. Therefore, in Germany, guidelines exist to keep minimum distances between livestock buildings, sensitive plants and ecosystems, and living areas. To calculate the necessary distance, knowledge about the emission streams from the livestock building and about the dispersion behavior are needed. Therefore, measurements were done regarding emission streams and the dispersion process for a broiler farm.

Bestimmung von Geruchsstoffimmissionen

Zur Bestimmung von Geruchsstoffimmissionen aus bestehenden Tierhaltungen gibt es Verwaltungsvorschriften und naturwissenschaftlich gepragte Verfahren. Die vom Landerausschuss Immissionsschutz empfohlene Geruchs-Immissionsrichtlinie fuhrt im Bereich der Landwirtschaft zu Fehlbeurteilungen der Geruchsimmissionen. An Begehungen kalibrierte Ausbreitungssimulationen stellen derzeit wohl die einzige Methode einer sachgerechten Beurteilung der Immissionssituation dar.
