In Poland, a problem of lack of radar coverage at certain flight levels over certain regions of the country is being observed. Therefore, the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency is looking for some better surveillance solutions for airspace and airport surface. Multilateration system (MLAT) are part of the technology used in aviation for many years. Originally developed for military purposes - to identify and determine the position of military airplanes in the air. In the system TDOA location method was used (Time Difference of Arrival) - the difference between flight time of the aircraft over the sensors.

European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS) is a satellite navigation system that was developed to assist in the positioning GPS and GLONASS. With precision fed information about the location it can be applied to maritime transport, land and air. In the article analyzed and interpretated were all parameters that describe the operation of EGNOS for two categories of approaches with vertical and horizontal guidance, and for one category of precision approach.

The paper presents the issues related to satellite navigation systems which can be supported by the EGNOS system. It provides basic information on the structure and operation of these systems, especially the EGNOS system. This enabled an analysis in terms of reliability of both the satellite navigation systems, as well as EGNOS. The results of values of probabilities staying the system in the highlighted states were achieved.

Therefore, the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency is looking for some better surveillance solutions for airspace and airport surface. The paper presents an analysis of surveillance systems with particular emphasis on the of the possibility of integrating radar systems with multilateration and automatic dependent ones. Presented article turned out to be basis for discussion on sense of implementation the integrated system of surface surveillance at the airport where such a surveillance is carried out only visually and there is a bigger risk of causing a dangerous situation.

Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSs) are built considering numerous legal regulations, organisational conditions, and user needs. For this reason, they cannot be sold as plug & play products and their implementation requires a clear definition of functional and technical requirements. The primary objective of ITSs is to improve the efficiency and safety of road traffic. In fact, nowadays, the number of motorways all over Europe is increasing. The road freight transport is also growing. These are one of some reasons of caused accidents. Solution to this problem may be implementation of ITS systems. But, a reliable work of them is possible when their reliability is at a very high level. The aim of this paper is to present a new model of reliability and operation analysis of the selected ITS system which include continuous provision of power to its elements. The article also contains a logical, functional and physical viewpoint of selected ITS system.

Abstract The implementation of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) nowadays is associated with a strong need to solve problems related to the high accident rate, as well as low efficiency of transportation process management. The topic of this paper is the characterisation of selected intelligent transport services and the determination of their influence on road traffic safety and efficiency. Two services implemented within the framework of the National Traffic Management System in Poland were distinguished, namely: transmitting information to drivers and incident detection. A general analysis of the relationship between the functioning of ITS services and safety on national roads, as well as traffic efficiency therein was conducted.

Abstract The article presents issues associated with ITS and their influence on the safety and efficiency of road traffic. Each system to be implemented at a specified location is thoroughly analysed and defined. The architecture defining process utilised the FRAME architecture based on an example of a service concerning the transfer of information on environmental conditions.

Safety level analysis is included in the paper in context of System Wide Information Management (SWIM) system in air traffic management. The example is given. It examines the limitations and drawbacks of current ICT systems used for air traffic management. Analyzing the development of communication systems for the management of general air traffic, it can be concluded that the development of the terrestrial segment of the exchange of information between the parties relating to the air traffic will fluctuate towards a solution based on a service-oriented architecture (SOA). This architecture will be the basis for the implementation of the concept of an information exchange system SWIM.

Abstract The article presents issues concerning on the alarm columns of highway emergency communication system. The system is presented in general and then the reliability-exploitation analysis was done. This enabled preparing a development graph of the relationship, under which is created a set of Kolmogorov-Chapman equations describing the system. On this basis, it was possible to find the relation for calculating the probabilities of system staying (in symbolic terms) in the functional: states of full ability SPZ, impendency over safety SZB and unreliability of safety SB. Streszczenie W artykule zaprezentowano zagadnienia dotyczące kolumn alarmowych autostradowego systemu łączności alarmowej. Przedstawiono ogólnie ten system, następnie przeprowadzono analizę niezawodnościowo-eksploatacyjną. Umożliwiło to opracowanie grafu relacji, na podstawie którego utworzono układ równań Kołmogorowa-Chapmana opisujący go.

Abstract This paper presents the issues connected with highway transport telematics systems. The particular attention is paid to the highway emergency communications systems. There is described their structure and functioning. It also presented the general reliability-exploitation model. It allows to determinate the probability of staying of the system in the distinguished operating states. Streszczenie W publikacji przedstawiono zagadnienia związane z autostradowymi systemami telematyki transportu. Zwrócono szczególna uwagę na autostradowe systemy łączności alarmowej. Opisano ich budowę oraz funkcjonowanie. Zaprezentowano także ich ogólny model niezawodnościowo-eksploatacyjny. Umożliwia on wyznaczenie wartości prawdopodobieństw przebywania systemu w wyróżnionych stanach eksploatacyjnych.
