This article reports findings resulting from a constructivist study exploring the culture of a long-established, liberal arts women’s college as revealed through its formal, administratively sponsored rituals. The essay explains the metaphors offered by respondents to explain the ways they understand and make meaning of the ritual process so central to their college life.
