Computer game and educational system

Kagemasa Kozuki; M. Imachi; Masayuki Ueno; Atsushi Tsubokura; Katsuhide Tsushima

The behaviors of players of a computer game called Drum Mania are analyzed from the view point of cognition motion process of human being. We have developed an analyzer called ADMP (Analyzer for Drum Music Player) on the computer to investigate the behavior of our objectives who play various games using a drum in which game parameters are easily changed. Finally, the connection and difference between a trainer used in musical education and computer game using a musical instrument are discussed.

Progress toward the science of game and amusement

Katsuhide Tsushima

Contents of computer games including video games and the behavior of a player are not simple but very complex. So it is not so easy to construct the science for game and amusement. The author talks about his approaches to construction of it. And the author started Game Amusement Society in 2002. And the author started the new department called Digital Games in our university in 2003. The author talks about the idea and concept behind them.

Analysis of key typing process using hand position process

Atsushi Tsubokura; Noboru Ashida; N. Matsubara; I. Oshima; Kagemasa Kozuki; Katsuhide Tsushima

This research is analysis about the key typing process using multi point measurement data. These research for learning system about key typing. The authors measure hand motion during key typing, and they can simulate about hand motion using key typed data and connection about key with finger. In this paper, the authors propose relevant experiments and analysis.

Spatial training game for 3D forming

Masayuki Ueno; Noboru Ashida; Katsuhide Tsushima; Shinjiro Wada; Yutaka Kida

A Game for spatial training for three-dimensional forming in art domain has been developed. In addition, some pretests for comparing the performance of the expert and novice about the time and operation have been done. The result suggests the effectivity of this type of training game for three-dimensional forming.

Katsuhide Tsushima; Masayuki Ueno; Takeshi Nishiki; Noboru Ashida; Kazuma Tanida

A new type of Authoring System for 3DCG animation is developed in which a user can easily manipulate three dimensional objects in three dimensional simulated space on the computer. The user can use programing, programming palette and several hardware interfaces to manipulate object comfortably with the help of turtle metaphor. All the manipulations of objects, cameras, lights and turtle are possible using turtle command in our system, so DMI for 3DCG animation is realized in this research.

3DCG authoring system using Extended Turtle Metaphor

Shiro Hirai; Masayuki Ueno; Keisuke Nanamura; Katsuhide Tsushima

3DCG authoring system is developed to realize Direct Manipulation Interface for 3DCG. The Extended Turtle Metaphor proposed by us is derived from LOGO language strongly helps user in their creation using our system. The students of our digital game department can make the forms and motions of objects in 3DCG space very quickly and intuitively using o3logo language and a art tool o3Art in the exercise called “Game Programming Techniques”. And several hardware interfaces are developed and analyzed to manipulate 3D objects more quickly.

Simplified motion language for 3D computer animation with turtle metaphor

Masayuki Ueno; Kazuma Tanida; Katsuhide Tsushima

Human visual cognition in 3D is depend on view point, therefore, making 3D animation process is very complex for human. Simplified Motion Language to describe motion for animator has been developed. On this interface, animator describe 3D object motion with motion icons that correspond to elemental motion with turtle metaphor. Arranged icons of elemental motions are combined and synthesized to one motion on each time step, then, the complex motion in animation is generated. Hence, animators without programming skill can also make 3D animation with this system.
