An s-COBORDISM THEOREM FOR SEMI-FREE S1-MANIFOLDS

Publisher Summary This chapter presents an s-cobordism theorem for semi-free S 1 -manifolds. A G-s-cobordism theorem does not hold in general without the stability conditions. A G-s-cobordism theorem holds for semi-free S 1 -manifolds without the stability conditions. A G-action is called semi-free when the isotropy group at each point is either the whole group G or the unit group {e}. For a G-space X, the orbit space is denoted by X/G and the fixed point set is denoted by X G .
