State-Based Algorithm for Power Stability Control in Transparent WDM Networks

This paper analyzes power fluctuation caused by interaction of fiber cut, add/drop operation, EDFA transients and ROADM attenuation adjustment in WDM networks. A state-based power control algorithm is proposed and tested in our simulation system.

Ultra-long transmission performance evaluation of 43Gbit/s CSRZ-DPSK DWDM signal using 4,300km DMF line

More than 10,000 km transmission capability was confirmed with 43 Gbit/s CSRZ-DPSK and conventional DMF lines. But the polarization dependent effects never guaranteed the complete stability at 4,300 km where a Q-factor margin of 5 dB was obtained in the short-term evaluation.

40 Gb/s-based WDM 4,300 km straight line transmission and comparison of re-circulating loop line

Direct performance comparison between the straight line and re-circulating fiber-loop configurations was described in terms of mean Q and Q variance through 42.8 Gb/s/spl times/32 WDM transmission over 4,300 km.
