アザミウマ類の捕食性天敵アカメガシワクダアザミウマの発育と繁殖に必要な餌のスジコナマダラメイガ卵量を実験室条件下(25℃,16L:8D)で調べた。アカメガシワクダアザミウマ幼虫1頭に対して1日当り1.5卵と3.0卵のスジコナマダラメイガ卵を与えた場合の羽化率は70%以上であったが,0.1卵と0.5卵のスジコナマダラメイガ卵を与えた場合には羽化率が有意に低下した。本種雌成虫についても同様に,1.5卵と3.0卵のスジコナマダラメイガ卵を与えると雌成虫10頭当りの産卵数は0.1卵と0.5卵のスジコナマダラメイガ卵を与えた場合よりも有意に増加した。1.5卵給餌区と3.0卵給餌区間のアカメガシワクダアザミウマ幼虫生存率と産卵数に有意な差はなかったことから,本種の飼育に必要なスジコナマダラメイガ卵数は1頭1日当り0.5卵以上で,最大でも1.5卵である。
