Absorbed dose measurements in a mixed field of fast neutrons and γ-rays by the fricke and ceric sulfate dosimeters

Abstract The absorbed dose measurements in a mixed field of fast neutrons and γ-rays have been carried out with the Fricke and ceric sulfate dosimeters of water and heavy water. The absorption coefficients and the radiation-chemical yields of the dosimeters were calculated on the basis of the data from literature. This combination of chemical dosimeters has proved to be useful as a routine method for determining the γ-ray and fast-neutron contributions to the total absorbed dose in low atomic number materials. The dependence of the obtained result on the neutron spectrum used in the computation was evaluated, and was found to be small for hydrogen but significant for deuterium, carbon, nitrogen and oxygen.

The effect of radiation on the release of corrosion products from 304 stainless steel in high temperature water—II: Effects of flow rate and duration of corrosion experiment

Abstract The effect of λ-radiation on the release of corrosion products from 304 stainless steel was investigated using a small circulation loop at high temperature. It was found the flow rate has a significant effect on the release rate and the release behavior is quite different after long duration of the corrosion experiments from that at early stage.
