Timothy Joseph Sheehan (“Tim”) was brought up in Bristol and studied medicine in Nottingham. He was popular with many, not only for his good looks and charm but also for his extraordinarily pleasant manner. The latter got him out of several difficult situations, including persuading a Spanish customs official to let him travel home from a holiday without a valid ticket. He moved to Lincoln in 1985 to undertake vocational training in general practice, and it was here he met Carmel. Always the adventurer, Tim decided to travel abroad. He and Carmel arrived in Hong Kong in 1989, just before the Tiananmen Square massacre. They settled in Discovery Bay, a small commuter town nestled below the mountains …
