We propose to use a supercontinuum light source for WDM millimeter-wave-band radio-on-fiber (ROF) systems. 2-channel WDM 60-GHz-band ROF signals are generated and transmitted over 25-km standard single mode fiber using a photonic up-conversion technique.

We demonstrate W-band (75–110 GHz) RoF radio signal transmission with two free-running lasers using an optical heterodyne technique. The combination of a laser located at a base station for the optical local oscillator and a data-modulated optical signal from a central office provides a W-band radio signal. The carrier frequency offset fluctuation within 6 MHz can be mitigated by digital signal processing at the receiver side, in a similar manner to that of optical digital coherent detection.

In an extended-reach OCDMA-PON system with passive remote node, 10-Gbps, 4-user, OCDMA transmission over 65-km standard SMF using a single multi-port encoder/decoder and 3R receiver for 10G-EPON systems without inline dispersion compensation is successfully demonstrated.
