Network systems have evolved connecting various types of terminals and machines such as M2M system and sensor networks. On the other hand, the cloud data centers that have enormous processing capacity have been constructed by installing thousands of servers. New services will be created by connecting these resources. In this paper, three technical issues for M2M and cloud data center connected system will be shown: scalability, latency, and wasting system resources. We have developed service-oriented system architecture named “AAN” to solve these issues. The key components of AAN are add-on functions such as filter or cache functions on a messaging platform and a controller for them. Then, we also show our concept and technologies as a developed prototype system. Adaptive network cache achieved faster response time than without it.

Complex Event Processing (CEP) is a key technology for processing of data, the use of which has increased rapidly in recent years. Network service providers are expected to offer new services through network connectivity between distributed devices as data source, data processing systems like CEP and users of the final results. Reduction of the peak traffic is one of the important issues for the network service providers. Because the amount of the capital investment for the network equipments is proportional to the amount of the peak traffic in network. We developed Application-Aware Traffic Control (AATC) for network based data processing services. AATC controls traffic for data processing services based on requirements of users of data processing results and reduces the peak traffic. We will also show the effectiveness of AATC with simulated systems.

New schemes such as SaaS and PaaS that let users access services over networks are widely used. Moreover, network operators must provide value-added services that enable service providers to create new services promptly and maintain performance as the number of service providers and users increases. To meet these requirements, we proposes a service gateway, which handles user messages (e.g., rewrites the message destination) on the basis of the user location, and a scalable control scheme for the SGW. And we implemented a prototype system to confirm scalability.
