PCS Control Channel Considerations

This paper concerns a Signaling System for Low Power Wireless Applications providing telephony service. As a basis for the discussion, we assume the eventual local loop replacement is a system goal. On the basis of on this assumption, the paper examines system operational issues that are vital for customer of this service. These issues are emergency call capabilities, extended battery life, and the efficient handling of control and data information message traffic in a high error rate environment. While these appear to be widely diverse topics, each of these points concerns signaling architecture. The paper examines each and proposes solutions.
