Estimation of the potential evapotranspiration by a simplified penman method

Nilson Augusto Villa Nova; Jarbas Honorio de Miranda; André B. Pereira; Kesia O. da Silva

The numerous methods for calculating the potential or reference evapotranspiration (ETo or ETP) almost always do for a 24-hour period, including values of climatic parameters throughout the nocturnal period (daily averages). These results have a nil effect on transpiration, constituting the main evaporative demand process in cases of localized irrigation. The aim of the current manuscript was to come up with a model rather simplified for the calculation of diurnal daily ETo. It deals with an alternative approach based on the theoretical background of the Penman method without having to consider values of aerodynamic conductance of latent and sensible heat fluxes, as well as data of wind speed and relative humidity of the air. The comparison between the diurnal values of ETo measured in weighing lysimeters with elevated precision and estimated by either the Penman-Monteith method or the Simplified-Penman approach in study also points out a fairly consistent agreement among the potential demand calculation criteria. The Simplified-Penman approach was a feasible alternative to estimate ETo under the local meteorological conditions of two field trials. With the availability of the input data required, such a method could be employed in other climatic regions for scheduling irrigation.

Comparação do uso de rastreabilidade para suínos em grupo e individual

Kesia O. da Silva; Irenilza de Alencar Nääs; Samatha Gil de Souza Campos

With the increasing demand of traced products to supply national and international market, it is urgent the development of knowledge about the processes of animals identification and the tracing of information related to production. This research aimed to compare two kinds of swine traceability: individual and in group, using the electronic identification and data recording system. It was used 50 piglets identified at birth, and the control variables of weight gain and feed conversion were used for comparing both systems. A sample was considered from the feasible error established by a specialist. A function was developed and validated from the sample size choice. It was found that for faster data recording an identified piglet sample can be used for tracing information, and the final error will be inversely proportional to the size of the sample.

Identificação eletrônica para avaliação do comportamento dos suínos na fase de gestação

Kesia O. da Silva; Irenilza de Alencar Nääs

The efficiency of swine production performance depends on the herd administration, such as good nutrition, sanitary control, facilities and appropriate environmental conditions. The concept of this production model is directly related with the reduction of selective losses and the process control. Each production segment is controlled to reach the optimization in the system totality, it is necessary to apply animals handling concepts, environmental control implementation, diseases control, nutrition control, information concerning in guaranteeing the animal welfare and individual identification. The present work presents as objective the development of the mathematical model to evaluate interactions among the internal atmosphere of the installation and the thermal animals preference, in the expectation of detecting a relationship among the frequency access to the drinking fountain and the atmosphere conditions - temperature, black globe temperature and relative humidity, using as tool the electronic identification. The results obtained by the mathematical model, allowed to conclude accurately the evaluation of the swine thermal preference correlating with the climatic variables in the pregnancy stage.
