Fault detection and isolation in wind turbines three sensor faults case

Younes Ait Elmaati; Lhoussain El Bahir; Khalid Faitah

This paper presents a study of the wind turbine in normal and faulty situation. In the latter, suitable residual generation is performed to detect and isolate three sensor faults in the wind turbine system. The study was conducted on FAST coded simulator, designed by the US National Renewable Energy Laboratorys National Wind Turbine Center. The obtained results provide a good fault detection and isolation.

Graphical conditions for R-controllability of generalized linear switching systems

Mohamed Bendaoud; Hicham Hihi; Khalid Faitah

This paper investigates the structural R-controllability problem for generalized linear switching systems. Causal manipulations on the bond graph models are carried out in order to determine graphical conditions for structural R-controllability.

mm-wave CMOS mixer design in 65 nm technology for 60 GHz wireless communications

Ahmed El Oualkadi; Khalid Faitah; Abdellah Ait Ouahman

The goal of this work is to study the design feasibility of an integrated dual-gate MOSFET mixer by using 65nm CMOS technology. The obtained results show a good potential for 65 nm CMOS technology and justify the feasibility of this mixer for wireless communication applications around 60 GHz. These obtained results are compared with the state of the art of some achievements in this field.

Fault Tolerant Control of Internal Faults in Wind Turbine: Case Study of Gearbox Efficiency Decrease

Younes Ait El Maati; Lhoussain El Bahir; Khalid Faitah

This paper presents a method to control the rotor speed of wind turbines in presence of gearbox efficiency fault. This kind of faults happens due to lack of lubrication. It affects the dynamic of the principal shaft and thus the rotor speed. The principle of the fault tolerant control is to find a bloc that equalizes the dynamics of the healthy and faulty situations. The effectiveness decrease impacts on not only the dynamics but also the steady state value of the rotor speed. The last reason makes it mandatory to add an integral term on the steady state error to cancel the residual between the measured and operating point rotor speed. The convergence of the method is proven with respect to the rotor parameters and its effectiveness is evaluated through the rotor speed.

Structural Controllability of Switched Linear Singular Systems Modelled by Bond Graph

Mohamed Bendaoud; Hicham Hihi; Khalid Faitah

In this paper the modelling and controllability of switched linear singular systems (SLSS) are investigated. First a procedure to draw a hybrid automaton using bond graph approach is proposed. Then, graphical methods are derived in order to determine different conditions for the structural R-I-C-controllability of SLSS systems. These methods are based on simple causal paths and causal manipulations on the switching bond graph model.

Modeling and controlling of a wind turbine generator based on the permanent magnet synchronous machine

Walid Soulouh; Hicham Hihi; Khalid Faitah

In this paper, a study of a decentralized production of electricity from wind energy is suggested. We propose a mathematical modeling and simulation in MATLAB/Simulink of a wind generator with variable speed. The system considered is composed of a DC machine emulating the turbine, a permanent magnet synchronous machine, and a PWM power converter.

Modeling and controlling of a wind generator based on a permanent magnet synchronous machine

Walid Soulouh; Hicham Hihi; Khalid Faitah

In this paper, we develop a study concerning the distributed generation of electricity using wind power. We propose a mathematical modeling and a simulation in MATLAB/Simulink of a wind generator with variable speed. The system considered is composed of a DC machine emulating the turbine, a permanent magnet synchronous machine making the base of the generator, in addition to a PWM power converter.
