In this paper, we have developed 15.6 inch auto-stereoscopic 3D display with a field sequential LC parallax barrier which shows the full resolution image of the panel even in the 3D mode. By field sequential switching of a barrier and an image panel, we can compensate the loss of the resolution in the LC barrier type 3D display. We also investigated the field sequential switching effect on the performance of the LC parallax barrier type 3D display.

In this paper, we introduce Crosstalk definition of Polarization Switching 3D LCD display and scrutinize the relation between Crosstalk and parameters which give influence to Crosstalk throughout simulation. This result can give efficient guidelines to design Polarization Switching 3D LCD display having Crosstalk as less as possible.

Autostereoscopic display with a shifted LC barrier structure for a wide viewing zone

Ki-Hyung Kang; Seon-Deok Hwang; Jung-Hoon Yoon; Dong-Choon Hwang; Soo-bae Moon

In this paper, we propose a shifted ITO electrode structure of a LC barrier for additional sweet spots in the auto-stereoscopic 3D display. The shifted ITO electrode is consisted of vertically inter-digital ITO electrodes both bottom and top electrodes. They are assembled with horizontally shifted by a half pitch. We can drive each electrode according to the viewer position. It gives an effect of varying the viewing zone. By doing this, we can widen the viewing zone with head tracking technique. It can give a viewer some freedom of viewing position with an image of high quality.
