The major contribution of this paper is the implementation of real time traffic and traveler information service through the terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting (T-DMB) system, which are known to be suitable for the mobile data services as well as audio and video services. The implemented system converts the Korean characteristic traffic information into the transport protocol expert group (TPEG) messages, and provides them to the T-DMB system. By testing the service with the TPEG message decoder implemented in the navigation system on PDA and laptop, it has turned out that it can be used as a highly efficient traffic information service system that could be adopted in Korea as well as in European countries

This paper introduces an efficient transmission of traffic and traveler information through digital multimedia broadcasting system, which is a multimedia and mobility empowered version of European digital audio broadcasting system. By introducing Korean characteristic traffic information into the transport protocol expert group messages, we could get highly efficient traffic and traveler information system that could be used in Korea as well as in European countries Keywords-component; traffic and traveler information, digital multimedia broadcasting, digital audio broadcasting

This paper introduces a structure of delivering traveler information service including point of interest information through the terrestrial multimedia broadcasting system, in which, the receiver is connected with cellular communication terminal to enable the interactivity of the service. By combining real time traffic information and point of interest information, we could get an efficient traffic and traveler information service system that could be used for many location based applications

This paper presents a new bidirectional location based service (LBS) using terrestrial-digital multimedia broadcasting (T-DMB) and wireless communication network. We propose a new bidirectional POI (point-of-interest) application interoperable with TPEG protocol, and introduce the POI data server/client in T-DMB network and the bidirectional TTI contents server/host server in wireless communication network The receiving platform based on laptop computer is connected to T-DMB receiver and CDMA modem simultaneously, and it includes the TPEG decoder implemented by using the proposed protocol. The stability and effectiveness of the proposed protocol is verified through the field test.

This paper introduces T-DMB (terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting) receiver to provide TTI (traffic and traveler information) service through T-DMB signal. TTI service is one of the most popular services among the data services based on T-DMB, because many people need real time traffic information to avoid the traffic jam caused by the rapid increase in the traffic volume. Many travelers also want travel information around the interested point to visit. In order to satisfy these demands, we developed T-DMB receiver for TTI service based on T-DMB system having high performance in mobility and reception. This receiver can receive two kinds of services simultaneously, and so we can get TTI service while watching the video service through T-DMB in a car. In this paper, we describe the design and implementation of the receiver and then show the TTI service, which includes RTM (road traffic message), PTI (public transport information), POI (point of interest) and NEWS.

This paper introduces the development of a remultiplexer which multiplexes the MPEG-4 stream into the digital multimedia broadcasting transmission signal. The remultiplexer also has additional channel coding functions which are essential for mobile reception of moving pictures through the digital multimedia broadcasting signal.
