A Fixed Point Theorem for Mappings Satisfying a Contractive Condition of Rational Type on a Partially Ordered Metric Space

J. Harjani; B. López; Kishin Sadarangani

The purpose of this paper is to present a fixed point theorem using a contractive condition of rational type in the context of partially ordered metric spaces.

Fixed point theorems for weakly C-contractive mappings in ordered metric spaces

Belén López; Kishin Sadarangani

The purpose of this paper is to present some fixed point results for weakly C-contractive mappings in a complete metric space endowed with a partial order.

A best proximity point theorem for Geraghty-contractions

Josefa Caballero; Kishin Sadarangani

The purpose of this paper is to provide sufficient conditions for the existence of a unique best proximity point for Geraghty-contractions.Our paper provides an extension of a result due to Geraghty (Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 40:604-608, 1973).

Fixed point theory for cyclic (ϕ - ψ)-contractions

Erdal Karapınar; Kishin Sadarangani

In this article, the concept of cyclic (ϕ - ψ)-contraction and a fixed point theorem for this type of mappings in the context of complete metric spaces have been presented. The results of this study extend some fixed point theorems in literature.2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 47H10;46T99 54H25.

Existence and Uniqueness of Positive and Nondecreasing Solutions for a Class of Singular Fractional Boundary Value Problems

J Caballero Mena; J. Harjani; Kishin Sadarangani

We establish the existence and uniqueness of a positive and nondecreasing solution to a singular boundary value problem of a class of nonlinear fractional differential equation. Our analysis relies on a fixed point theorem in partially ordered sets.

On solutions of a quadratic integral equation of Hammerstein type

J. Bana; J. Rocha Martin; Kishin Sadarangani

We study the solvability of a nonlinear quadratic integral equation of Hammerstein type. Using the technique of measures of noncompactness we prove that this equation has solutions on an unbounded interval. Moreover, we also obtain an asymptotic characterization of these solutions. Several special cases of this integral equation are discussed and applications to real world problems are indicated.

Contractive-Like Mapping Principles in Ordered Metric Spaces and Application to Ordinary Differential Equations

Josefa Caballero; Kishin Sadarangani

The purpose of this paper is to present a fixed point theorem for generalized contractions in partially ordered complete metric spaces. We also present an application to first-order ordinary differential equations.

Solvability of Volterra-Stieltjes operator-integral equations and their applications

Józef Banaś; Kishin Sadarangani

Abstract We investigate a class of operator-integral equations of Volterra-Stieltjes type and we study the solvability of those equations in the space of continuous functions. Equations in question create a generalization of numerous integral equations considered in nonlinear analysis. The main tool used in our considerations is the technique associated with measures of noncompactness. We show the applicability of our existence result in the study of a few integral equations of Volterra type.

Solutions of some functional-integral equations in Banach algebra

J. Bana; Kishin Sadarangani

Using the technique of measures of noncompactness in Banach algebra, we prove art existence theorem for a functional-integral equation. That equation contains as particular cases a lot of integral and functional equations considered in nonlinear analysis.

Solvability of a nonlinear integral equation of Volterra type

Józef Banas; J. Rocha; Kishin Sadarangani

The aim of this paper is to investigate a class of integral equation of Volterra type and its solvability in the space of continuous and bounded functions on R+. The main tool used in our considerations is the technique associated with measures of noncompactness.
