The species R−C7H7Mo(CO)3 (R=−CH2COCH3,−CH(CH3)COCH3,−CH(CH)(CH3)2COCH3) have been synthesized by electrolysing [η7-C7H7Mo(CO)3]+, η7-C7H7Mo(CO)2Br and the dimers [C7H7Mo(CO)3]2 and (C7H7)2Mo(CO)3, respectively, in suitable ketones and HBr. 1H NMR spectra and the X-ray structure determination of (CH3−CO−CH(CH3)−C7H7)Mo(CO)3 revealed the CH3−CO−CH(CH3)-group being bonded to the cycloheptatriene ligand via the α-carbon atom of the ethyl group.

The reaction of cis-(C6H5CN)2PtCl2 and Na2PtCl4 with the dienes 1,4-pentadiene and 2,5-diphenyl-1,5-hexadiene yields the species cis-(1,4-pentadiene) PtCl2 and cis-(2,5-diphenyl-1,5-hexadiene)PtCl2, respectively. The compounds have been fully characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H-NMR, mass spectroscopy and by X-ray methods

The structure of [PCl4][VCl5] was determined from threedimensional X-ray data. The VCl5- ion is bipyramidal with almost C2v symmetry.

The title compound has been synthesized by three different methods and its structure determined from three dimensional X-ray data by Patterson and Fourier methods. The crystals are triclinic with unit cell dimensions a = 1022.60 ± 0.07 pm, b = 638.69 ± 0.27 pm, c = 1478.00 ± 0.19 pm, α = 78.48 ±0.02°, β = 131.049 ± 0.008°, γ = 87.16 ± 0.03 °, space group Ci1—PT and Z = 2. Least squares refinement by use of 2160 independent reflections measured on a diffractometer has reached R = 5.4%. There are discrete (CH3)3C—C7H7Mo(CO)3 molecules, the central molybdenum atom is octahedrally coordinated.

The photolytical reactions of η5-C5H5Mo(CO)3CH3 (1) or η5-C5H5W(CO)3CH3 (2) with N3CO2C2H3 (3) in CH2Cl2 yield the “nitrene” complexes [(η5-C5H5JMoO)(μ-NCO2C2H5)2 (4), [(η5-C5H5)WO]2(μ-NCO2C2H5)2 (5) and [(η-C5H5JMoO]2(μ-NCO2H5)(μ-O) (6) together with some η5-C5H5Mo(CO)3Cl (7) and η5-C5H5W(CO)3Cl (8), proving that the solvent takes part in the reaction. Compounds 4, 5 and 6 contain bridging imido groups, arising from the capture of probably free nitrenes NCO2C2H5 by organometallic species. Evidence for the presence of free nitrenes in the reaction medium is provided by the isolation of urethane (9), tetrachlorethene (10), 7 and 8 as secondary products.
