The relationship between the retention of cemented veneer crowns and the crushing strength of the cements

Knud Dreyer Jørgensen; Karen Holst

The present work was a study on the relationship between the retention of cemented veneer crowns and the crushing strength of the cements used. The results were presented in Table II and in Figure 2. By increasing the crushing strength of the cements there was an almost proportional increase in retention.

The Influence of the Condensation Pressure Upon Crushing Strength and Mercury Content of Amalgam

Knud Dreyer Jørgensen; Mogens Ravnkilde Nielsen

This is a study of the effect of condensation pressure upon crushing strength and mercury content at various amalgams, and of the relation between crushing strength and mercury content. The results are presented in Tables 1 and 2, and in Figures 1, 2, and 3. The experiments show that and increase of the condensation pressure from 0.8 to 9.4 kg/mm2 results in a continued increase of the crushing strength and a reduction of the mercury content (Figures 1 and 2). The experiments also show (Figure 3) that a reduction of the mercury content of the amalgams below 50% will result in an increase of the crushing strength from 40 to 75 kg/cm2/%.

The Influence of Temperature on the Crushing Strength of Dental Amalgams

Knud Dreyer Jørgensen; Hiroshi Otani; Shozo Kanai

Investigation were made on the influence of temperature upon the crushing strength of amalgams, partly at elevated temperatures (Tables 1 and 2, Figure 1), partly after short heating and recording to room temperature (Table 3, Figure 2). Furthermore it was investigated how fast short-heated and recooled amalgam will recover strength (Table 4, Figure 3).The experiments show that the strength is essentially reduced by increased temperature, and that the amalgam specimens regain their mechanical properties after a relatively short time.
