CONSIDERATION ON SIDE-SPLITTING BOND STRENGTH OF R/C BEAM WITH MULTI-LAYERED REINFORCEMENT

Koshiro Nishimura; Toshikatsu Ichinose; Naoki Onishi

There have been many pull-out tests indicating that the bond strengths of the bars in the second layer are smaller than those in the first layer. On the other hand, test results of RC beam indicate that the bond strengths of the cut-off bars in the second layer are larger than those in the first layer. To examine this contradiction, a new method is proposed, where the direct shear failure of the concrete at the reinforcement layer is considered rather than the bond stress of each bar. The proposed method is successfully applied to the previous test results of RC beams with multi-layered reinforcement.

CONSIDERATION ON SHEAR STRENGTH OF R/C BEAM WITH BOND SPLITTING AND YIELD OF SHEAR REINFORCEMENT

Koshiro Nishimura; Naoki Onishi

In order to investigate significance to consider yield modes of bond splitting and yielding of shear reinforcement when shear strength is calculated, calculations based on the types A and B models are examined by comparing with test results in the previous studies. As results of the comparison, it can be said that effects of increasing shear reinforcement ratio or yield strength of shear reinforcement are different in that yield mode. And comparison between the type A model and Ohno & Arakawa formula implies that influence of the bond can be evaluated by the formula.
