9.3: 2.2″ QCIF Full Color Transparent AMOLED Display

We have developed 2.2-inch transparent active matrix organic light emitting diode AMOLED with semitransparent cathode contact technology on the organic layer of electroluminescent device. The transparent AMOLED shows the emission from both the bottomside and the topside. The contrast ratio was enhanced because of non-reflecting cathode with respect to the conventional display and when the device was turned off, it showed about 20% of transparency

9.2: A 5.0-in WVGA AMOLED Display for PDAs

Samsung SDI has developed a full color 5.0″ WVGA AMOLED display using top emission structure with a super fine pitch of 0.1365 mm 186 ppi, the worlds highest density OLED display ever reported to date. Scan driver circuits and demux circuits were integrated within the display panel, using low temperature poly-Si TFT CMOS technologies, and data driver circuits were mounted using COG IC. Peak luminescence was greater than 300 cd/ with power consumption of 500 mW with 30% of the pixels on.

47.4: Optical Analysis of Organic Light Emitting Devices using Computer Simulation

A simulator was developed to calculate the optical effects for OLED(Organic Light Emitting Devices). The optical effects for the bottom emitting structure and the top emitting structure were calculated with the various thickness of organic layer. The characteristic behavior of each organic layer was analyzed for these two structures. The optimal layer structures for these device structures were obtained.
